Vasks - Cor Anglais Concerto

The Cor Anglais Concerto was completed in 1989 by Latvian composer Pēteris Vasks (1946). It is a gentle and pastoral composition, influenced by elements of Latvian folk music, and brilliantly ochestrated. The cor anglais is one of my favourite instruments, and this is by far the best concerto for it that I know. The work is in four movements and the average playing time is 21 minutes (AllMusic). My version is by Normunds Schnee and the Riga Philharmonic Orchestra under Kriss Rusmanis on a Conifer CD.
