This violin concerto was completed in 1942 by British composer
Ernest John Moeran (1894 - 1950). The work is traditionally in three movements, all heavily influenced by Ireland, the country he left by the time he finished the concerto. Although I rate this slightly lower than the cello concerto, it is for me one of the best violin concertos of the twentieth century. The average playing time is 33 minutes (
AllMusic). I have the version by Lydia Mordkovitch and the Ulster Orchestra under Vernon Handley on a Chandos CD.
