Piano Quintet in G Minor, opus 57 was completed in 1940 by Soviet composer Dmitri Shostakovich (1906 - 1975). Although the piano quintet is not my favourite combo in chamber music, this one is awesome from start to finish, in five contrasting movements. The average playing time is 32 minutes (AllMusic). I have two versions, of which I have a preference for the Borodin Quartet with Elisabeth Leonskaja on a Teldec CD.
