The Holberg Suite, Op. 40, more properly "From Holberg's Time", is an orchestral suite of five movements based on eighteenth century dance forms, written in 1885 by Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg (1843 - 1907). It was originally composed for piano solo in 1884 to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Dano-Norwegian humanist playwright Ludvig Holberg, and adapted for string orchestra one year later.
