Mozart - Clarinet Quintet

The Clarinet Quintet in A major ("Stadler"), K. 581, for clarinet and string quartet, was completed in 1789 by Austrian composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756 - 1791). It was one of the first pieces of chamber music that gave a dominant role to the clarinet, and it is still one of the best. It combines virtusoity and wonderful melody lines. The work is in four movements and the average playing time is 32 minutes (AllMusic). My version is by Karl Leister and the Brandis Quartet on a Brilliant Classics CD.
